Tardy Procedures

1. Any student not in his assigned homeroom by 7:45 a.m. is considered tardy. If a student arrives to school after 7:45 a.m., but before 7:50 a.m., he/she will report to the homeroom teacher. Students who arrive after 7:50 a.m. will report to the office accompanied by a parent. The student will be given a pass to class. In order for a tardy to be excused, the student must immediately present a written excuse.

2. Students who arrive on a late bus will report to the office to acquire an excused tardy slip. A tardy to school/class that will be excused is as follows:

§ The doctor’s office verifies in writing that a student had a doctor’s appointment.

§ A legal representative verifies that there was a legal appointment that took place at the time when school began that day.

§ A school bus arrives late.

§ A true emergency existed and was excused by the principal.

§ The student was detained by an administrator and has a pass from the administrator.

Tardiness to Class

Students must be in class and seated when the tardy bell rings each period of the day. Students are considered tardy when the tardy bell sounds. Students will be admitted into class without a pass although still considered and still recorded tardy within the first 5 minutes after the tardy bell. After 5 minutes passed the tardy bell the student must report to the office and will be considered skipping.
